Fremont, CA (September 28, 2012) – Victory Media, the leading media organization for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has named Unitek College to the coveted 4th annual Military Friendly School® list. The 2013 Military Friendly Schools® list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.
“Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools® shows Unitek College’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, Director for G.I. Jobs and Vice President at Victory Media. “As interest in education grows we’re thrilled to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools.”
Unitek College offers several VA approved training pathways leading to in-demand careers. Some of Unitek College’s VA approved health care training programs include Vocational Nursing (VN), Registered Nursing (RN) and Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN).
“Unitek College is 100% committed to assisting our dedicated service men and women in making a successful transition into civilian life. Our main priority is to help them obtain the necessary education and training that can be parlayed into a lasting and rewarding career. Serving our veterans is a privilege we don’t take lightly. It is the least we can do given the level of commitment each and every military service person has shown in protecting our freedom and liberty,” said Nav Bawa, COO and Executive Vice President, Unitek College.
The 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools® was compiled through extensive research and institutional assessments including a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools. Ernst & Young LLP independently tested the survey results for the 2013 list based upon the weightings and methodology established by G.I. Jobs. The criteria was developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board (AAB) consisting of educators from schools across the country specializing in the assessment of institutional effectiveness regarding the veteran population.
Among the institutional attributes leading to Unitek College’s inclusion on the list were its relevant programs, student services, financial aid resources, and graduation and retention rates. In addition to its VA approved health care programs, Unitek College also offers certificate programs in Accounting. These programs are not yet eligible for VA funding, although veterans may pursue these degree pathways utilizing federal financial aid should they qualify.
