The Reno Practical Nursing program is designed to prepare you for the NCLEX-PN licensure exam so that you may qualify for entry-level employment as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

PN Program with a Career-Driven Curriculum
As mentioned above, our goal is to prepare students for PN licensure and entry-level employment. To achieve this mission, we developed multiple learning resources to nurture and accommodate our students. For example, Reno students can access various labs in our simulation center.
This center contains high-fidelity simulators and sim-view technology, including a Medical Surgical Nursing Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The simulation center also features two furnished patient rooms: one for Pediatrics with infant and child simulators, a crib, and a youth bed; another includes a birthing simulator, a bassinet for newborns, and a delivery bed.
Our curriculum is tailored to prepare jobseekers for the increasingly complex demands of nursing. Many of our Practical Nursing Courses cover industry-relevant topics, such as:

Skills Labs & Class Caps
Classroom utilization is carefully planned so that all students can effectively participate and benefit from their use of the skills labs as well as other resources. In addition, most classes are capped between 30 to 40 students to help everyone feel recognized and engaged.

Holding pre-accreditation status does not guarantee that initial accreditation by NLN CNEA will be received.
Invitation for Third-Party Comments
The Unitek College, Reno, Practical Nursing (PN) program has applied for initial accreditation candidacy from the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) and will be hosting an on-site program evaluation visit on February 8-10, 2023. The public is invited to submit third-party comments by January 25, 2023. Interested parties are invited to submit third-party comments in writing directly to National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation, 2600 Virginia Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20037.
The NLN CNEA expects the engagement of communities of interest in the accreditation process including faculty, students, administrators, alumnae, and community as an indication of stakeholder commitment to program quality and integrity. Interested parties are asked to submit comments, in writing, directly to the NLN CNEA staff regarding the program(s) under review. Interested parties are invited to share comments regarding the Practical Nursing program to CNEA by January 25, 2023.
Third-party comments will be shared with the on-site program evaluation team and considered by the NLN CNEA Program Review Committee and the Board of Commissioners during the review process. The comments will be shared with the chief academic nurse administrator who will be given an opportunity to respond to the comments if desired.
