What is a Registered Nurse? What are their duties?

Unitek College's Registered Nursing Program is an LVN to RN Transition program for currently licensed LVN's to obtain an Associate of Science in Nursing to become employed as a Registered Nurse.

 

The program consists of 2 semesters, each being 16 weeks with approximately 27 to 40 hours per week for Theory, clinical and lab. In order to be considered for enrollment, the following must be completed:

 
STEP 1:
  • Complete Admissions application
  • Complete form for Authorization of Background Check
  • Achieved a passing score on the TEAS Admissions exam
  • Achieve a passing score of 70% or higher in the ATI-PN Comprehensive Predictor - Proctored
  • ADN candidates take comprehensive administered within the RNSG300 transition course
  • 30 Unit Candidate must complete exam in order to be considered for admission into the LVN-to-RN ADN Transition Program (this exam will be administered at Unitek College, you must contact an admissions representative for dates)
STEP 2A: Financial Pre-Qualification Check
STEP 2B: Submission of all the following documentation:
  • Provide Sealed Official transcripts from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.5 for the following science courses (Microbiology with lab, Human Anatomy with lab, & Human Physiology with a lab) Students will be permitted to repeat only one of the three science courses in order to achieve the 2.5 average GPA for Science. A "W" will be considered an enrollment. This policy is also applicable to 30-unit applicants.
  • Provide Sealed Official transcripts from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher for all science and remaining pre-requisite & vocational nursing courses.
  • Provide proof of an active license as a California Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • Provide proof of the following immunizations:
  • Submit completed LVN to RN Physical Examination Form
  • Proof of Immunizations (Description provided)
  • Proof of CPR
  • IV Certification

TEAS Admissions exam
  • Unitek College considers 70% a passing score for entrance to the LVN to RN program
  • The Exam can take up to 3.5 hours depending on students work pace. Please allow enough time on your exam day to complete the exam.
  • Students should aim to receive the highest possible exam score as it does factor into the program admissions process.
