What You’ll Learn

We believe all successful PTAs must be considerate and compassionate individuals who respect the rights and dignity of their patients. Upon program completion, you will be ready to contribute to the field as an effective, ethical, and productive member of any healthcare team. Our Physical Therapist Assistant Program graduates are prepared to take their licensure exams. Once licensed, they can seek work in the offices of physical therapists, occupational and speech therapists, and audiologists. They may also find work in hospitals or home healthcare services.

At our Sacramento campus, you will receive specialized training to perform tasks like the following:

Observing patients before, during, and after therapy and reporting their status to the supervising physical therapist
Helping patients perform specific exercises as part of their plan of care
Treating patients using several techniques, such as stretches or strengthening massages
Using equipment like walkers to help patients to ambulate
Educating patients and family members on what to do after treatment

Admissions Requirements for the Sacramento PTA Program

Our Physical Therapist Assistant Program has a competitive admissions process. The top 34 students will advance based on their high school or college GPA and Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). Applicants must earn a minimum score of at least 59%. Please keep in mind that the application deadline is March 31st. Visit our College Catalog for all the admissions requirements.

Our goal is to prepare you to become a safe, effective, ethical, and productive member of any future healthcare team. We believe that all successful PTAs must be caring, considerate, and compassionate individuals who respect their patients’ rights and dignity.

Our Physical Therapist Assistant program combines traditional classroom instruction and hands-on learning. You will complete 69 credit hours throughout a five-semester program. During the final two semesters, you will be scheduled for 680 hours of clinical practice. Our courses include out-of-class work, such as reading and writing assignments, library research, projects, and practical application assignments.

The Sacramento Campus

In 2006, we opened our campus in Sacramento, California. Several milestones later, we were recognized as a “School of Excellence” by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). This status is awarded to institutions for their dedication to the rigors of the ACCSC endorsement as well as their efforts to maintain the highest levels of success among their students. Our campus maintains several classrooms, labs, a library, a student lounge, and clerical areas.

In 2023, we launched our PTA program and opened an extension campus. This additional campus is about six miles from the main campus. In 15 minutes, you can travel between the two locations using Interstate 80. One of our primary goals is to help aspiring PTAs receive their degree and prepare for the field. Located near the American River, our campuses are accessible from several freeways. They are also surrounded by numerous restaurants and small businesses.
