What You’ll Learn

The primary goal of our Vocational Nursing program is to prepare you for the NCLEX-PN licensing exam. Upon earning this credential, our graduates can seek entry-level employment as Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs). During the program, you can expect to learn a variety of fundamental skills that include but are not limited to the following:

Assessing and monitoring patients
Reporting adverse reactions to medication or treatment
Gather information from patients, such as their health history
Promoting good health habits
Supervising nursing assistants and aides
Administering prescribed medicines
Starting intravenous fluids
Providing care to ventilator-dependent patients

Admissions Requirements for the Sacramento Vocational Nursing Program

Two of our primary requirements include a high school diploma and the completion of our pre-requisite course. Applicants must also meet the Director of Nursing before they can be accepted into our core program.

Vocational Nursing Program with a Career-Driven Curriculum

Our Vocational Nursing curriculum incorporates NCLEX-style questions so that you will be prepared to take the national licensure exam. We also partner with Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) to include a variety of test-taking strategies and subjects. The Sacramento Campus

Our Sacramento campus is located near an urban college district. We are also within distance of attractions like Del Paso Park and Evergreen Commons. With Sacramento State close by, various resources for college students are within walking distance, including apartments, eateries, employment opportunities, and more. While on campus, students can access our library, student lounge, and multiple laboratories.

Our classrooms are equipped with individual student desks, whiteboards, projectors, and screens for lecture presentations. Our lab rooms contain patient-care stations to simulate actual hospital settings. Each lab also has storage cabinets that house necessary equipment, such as IV poles, enteral feeding pumps, blood pressure cuffs, scales, adult and pediatric mannequins, and equipment for common nursing procedures.
