Unitek College Placement and Externship Coordinator Awarded Pharmacy Technician of the Year

Fremont, California April 27: – Unitek College’s Pharmacy Technician externship and Placement Consultant, Kathy Warren CPht, was awarded the 2004 Pharmacy Technician of the Year, for the State of California, by the CA Pharmacist Association. This is a momentous achievement and honor for Kathy Warren who was chosen for the award out of 30,000 Technician nominees. The California Pharmacists Association cited her excellent capabilities and accomplishments in the pharmacy technician profession. The award ceremony was at the association’s yearly Outlook meeting held in San Diego on February 17th to 20th, 2005.
35 years of Experience in the Community
Kathy Warren has been a pharmacy technician for 35 years and has advanced the standard and qualifications of a pharmacy technician by being active in APT (Academy of Pharmacy Technicians), California Pharmacist Association, and the PTCB Board as well as working full time at Unitek College as an Externship and Placement Coordinator. Kathy Warren has worked 20 years in community pharmacy and 15 years in-patient pharmacy before joining Unitek College as a Pharmacy Technician instructor sharing her extensive experience and qualifications with her students.

Kathy has committed to being active in the CA state pharmacy association because she wants to give back to a profession that she has is passionate about. Kathy was on the original Task force that helped create and proliferate standards and qualifications of Pharmacy technicians thus establishing the APT, Academy of Pharmacy Technicians, Not only a co-creator of the APT, Kathy Warren is also the first Technician to sit on the APT board, she has been elected to a 5-year term and has currently served three years. Kathy Warren is also the first Pharmacy Technician in the State of California to sit on the California Pharmacist Association Board of Trustees. She is also an item writer and stakeholder for the PTCB. The PTCB is the only National Recognized Pharmacy Technician Certified test that certifies the qualifications and skills of technicians, enabling them to work more effectively with pharmacists and offer better patient care.
