Advantages of Vocational Nursing

Vocational Nurses work with physicians and registered nurses in various medical settings. They perform a number of tasks, such as taking blood pressure, changing dressings, and maintaining patient health records. There are many perks for Licensed Vocational Nurses. Typically, they are able to save time and money on their education. They also have a great job outlook, a multitude of places to work, and the opportunity to help others on a daily basis. If you’re interested in the medical field, and you’re hoping to forge a new career path, then you might want to consider Vocational Nursing.

Our Convenient Timeline

Vocational Nursing is a popular career choice. At Unitek College, we offer a well-rounded VN program. While the curriculum is varied and comprehensive, the program can be completed in as little as 11 months. If you prefer to attend night classes, Unitek also offers a VN evening program with an expected length of 16 months.

Unitek prepares students by giving them the skillset, knowledge, and experience they’ll need to take the licensure exam. Our courses accomplish this by pairing professional instruction with simulation exercises and lab work.

In fact, by 2026, employment opportunities are projected to grow 12 percent.1 As the elderly population ages and lifespans increase, the need for medical services will also increase. Graduates of the VN program will know how to assess patients and record symptoms. They’ll also know how to interact with patients, obtain medical histories, and record any adverse reactions to medication. In California, LVNs are allowed to distribute prescribed medications and start intravenous fluids.

Educational Objectives

The primary goal of the program is to prepare students for the NCLEX-PN license exam. Those that pass can seek entry-level employment as Licensed Vocational Nurses. Graduates will be able to handle a variety of fundamental tasks, including but not limited to the following:

In our Vocational Nursing program, classrooms are equipped with individual student desks, whiteboards, a projector, and a screen for lecture presentations. Lab rooms contain patient care stations to simulate actual hospital settings. Each lab has storage cabinets that house supplies and all the necessary equipment, including IV poles, enteral feeding pump, blood pressure cuffs, scales, adult and pediatric mannequins, and equipment to practice common nursing procedures.
