A closer look at Unitek College and the city of Concord.
Students enrolled at Unitek’s sunny Concord Campus journey to the Metroplex Office Centre at 1401 Willow Pass Road in Concord, California. The campus spans two floors and covers more than 24,000 square feet of space. To give you a better idea of the size, the Concord Campus is about half an acre, or approximately three mansions.
The renovated site includes a roster of clinical teaching wards, a dental laboratory, a pharmacy technician training center, IT classrooms, and various lab rooms. When Unitek opened this branch campus in 2015, the initial goal was to educate approximately 300 students in clinical settings. Instructors at Concord also utilize the latest medical simulation mannequins (SIM) and other diagnostic equipment.
Healthcare training programs in Concord
Depending on the program, students can typically elect to take morning classes, midday classes, or evening classes. Along with Vocational Nursing in Concord, the following programs are offered at the Concord Campus: Medical Assisting, Medical Office Administration, Pharmacy Technician, Information Technology, and Dental Assisting. Despite the comprehensive instruction and well-rounded curriculum, all of these programs can be completed in a year or less!
While it’s critical to study and push yourself, Unitek also encourages students to take designated breaks during the course schedule. In a similar vein, it’s important to enjoy your free time. The city of Concord has several attractions that are available to students. One well-known destination is the Todos Santos Plaza in downtown Concord. This plaza spans a full city block and contains a park with a playground and community green space. Surrounded by several businesses, including restaurants, coffee shops, and at least one bookstore, the plaza also hosts a farmer’s market on a regular basis.
Outdoor venues, peaceful hiking trails
For those that are musically inclined, the Sleep Train Concord Pavilion can be found on Kirker Pass Road. The Sleep Train Pavilion is an outdoor concert venue with regular shows, a café, and plenty of food and beverages. If you prefer to unwind with the outdoors, there are numerous hiking spots in both Concord and neighboring areas. Try the Contra Costa Canal Trail, a multi-use, whole-access trail that is one of the most popular walking paths in the Park District system. The trail’s paved pathway is suitable for bikers, runners, and individuals in wheelchairs. If you get a thrill from the great outdoors and prefer day trips, then you might consider making the trek to Mount Diablo. An hour’s drive from Concord, the mighty Mount Diablo boasts spectacular panoramic views.
How about a walk around the garden?
If that sounds a little too adventurous for your taste, you can always try the Ruth Bancroft Garden. Lovingly dubbed one of the best water-wise gardens, the Ruth Bancroft Garden is only a 15-minute drive from our Concord Campus. Decades of care have resulted in a 2.5-acre garden that contains more than 2,000 cacti, succulents, trees, and shrubs. This plant life hails from various countries, including Chile, South Africa, and Australia. It’s difficult to properly convey the true splendor of the garden. To feast your eyes on fiery Aloe africana and electric-green Aloe mudenensis, you’ll have to set aside some time and plan a visit.
Students at Unitek College have access to quite a festive city. Whether your interest lies in healthcare or technology, our Concord Campus maintains various educational programs. As Nelson Mandela once said,
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
