Nursing Programs lets Students Study While at Sea
One single week during April, 2011 proves to be a rather interesting one for nurses taking part in a continuing educational cruise to various ports in the sunny Caribbean. From April 10th to the 17th Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas sixth annual cruise will take place giving nurses a much needed respite along with an ingenious way of earning their 15 annual CE credits in the process.
The exciting itinerary for the cruise begins with departure from San Juan, Puerto Rico at 8:30 the morning of April 10th followed by a day of cruising through the open waters and then docking in Curacao in the morning two days later. Participants will see Oranjestad, Aruba the next day followed by ports in Roseau, Dominica and Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas before returning to San Juan the final morning of the 17th.
The qualified instructors in charge of the learning event are speaker Sue Tedford, a registered nurse with a masters degree in nursing science and the executive director of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing, Karen McCumpsey, an RN, CNE and also the assistant director of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing, and Karen Edmondson, an RN, CNE also with a masters degree in nursing.
The informative curriculum covered includes topics such as documentation, which is an integral part of all aspects of nursing, handling disciplinary actions, continued competence as a nurse, and exploring electronic media and legal issues. Other topics include important issues affecting the nursing profession in general such as political aspects, dealing with workplace violence, and working with multigenerational coworkers.
The exact cost of the cruise depends on the location of your cabin. Inside cabins are $888 per person while ocean view cabins are $1008 and cabins with an ocean view along with a balcony are $1168 per person.
All cruise prices are based on double occupancy and include the cost of the seven night cruise, port charges, taxes, and the registration fee to the Nursing Educational Sessions conference along with any materials needed. Keep in mind that students will be responsible for their own airfare, gratuities, any shore excursions they take, all drinks, phone calls, and any airline or governmental surcharges.
